Starting as we mean to go on: our top industry shows for 2020

With so much planned over the next 12 months, the team here at Dutch Walltextile Company is already gearing up to attend some of the biggest and best known interior design shows.

Here’s where we’re headed – and where anyone with a passion for design and interiors should be going too.

Maison et Objet

We’ve just come back from Paris, France where we attended Maison et Objet. Held twice a year – every January and September – for us, it’s the place to be if you work in home decor, furniture, interior design, architecture, and lifestyle culture.

Not only can you learn about current trends, tastes, and techniques; you can get up close and personal with those driving them.

Check out our full review of this January’s event in an upcoming blog – in which we’ll also outline our new collection; which we’ll be showcasing at each of these events.

Design District

Design District is the Netherlands’ premier professional interior design event. Held in Rotterdam’s Van Nelle Factory over three days in June (3, 4, & 5) the 10,000 m² exhibition floor is packed ceiling-to-floor with offerings from some 200 of the world’s most beautiful interior brands.

To be honest, it’s more like an art exhibition than a trade show. As well as professional interiors, because the event’s for consumers too you’ll also find a number of exhibitions showing young designers’ work. You can also attend stacks of lectures from some leading lights from across the industry. Overall, it’s a great place to get inspired.

As the name suggests, this professional fair focuses more on innovation and the materials used by architects and interior designers. It’s just one of 15 international ARCHITECT@WORK events taking place globally – everywhere from Bilbao to Toronto.

When it was last held in 2018, the Rotterdam show attracted over 4,750 visitors and featured innovations such as energy efficient technology, recycled materials, and circular construction. It’s the place to be if you want to learn what’s possible. Mark the 16 and 17 September in your diary.

Masters of LXRY

Last, but by no means least, in December we’ll be at Masters of LXRY – Europe’s biggest premium lifestyle fair. The Amsterdam-based five day event has become renowned for bringing together high-end companies from across the interior design and luxury goods sectors.

Featuring exclusive product launches, fashion shows, and live music; there are also numerous networking events, and even the chance to sample culinary creativity from world-class chefs.

We were there last year as part of a consortium of designers: in which we shared a stand and collaborated with other interior partners specialising in light, electronics, kitchens, and other high-end interior professionals.

So that’s the main events accounted for. And, as mentioned above, at each of these we’ll be showcasing our new collections – but more about that in our next blog!
